A Multitude of Training Modes

The computer-controlled motor drive offers a degree of versatility not found in traditional strength training machines. With the touch of a finger, BLAST! can be immediately configured to support a variety of training modes, including:

  • Variable resistance/elevated-load eccentric training
  • Multi-position isometric training
  • Controlled range-of-motion for rehabilitation
  • User-configured pyramids
  • User-specified arbitrary force curves
  • Continuous Passive Motion (CPM)

Touch Screen Controls

An intuitive touch-screen control panel provides unprecedented control over the workout.  With the touch of a finger, users can select the type of training they want, independently adjust their concentric and eccentric resistance levels, modify their desired range-of-motion, alter the velocity of the footplate, and specify the width of their target force training bands.

Target Force Band Display

Target force bands based on each user’s personal strength curve are displayed on the high-resolution screen.  Separate bands for the concentric and eccentric phases of the repetition guide the user by indicating how much force to apply while moving across the range-of-motion.

Real-Time Force Feedback

Users receive real-time visual feedback on the amount of force they are producing in the form of a curve moving across the display.  The user dynamically modifies his or her force to keep the curve within the prescribed target training band.  Users find this interaction motivating and entertaining.



Fast, Automatic User Setup

It is quick and easy to get started on BLAST!.  For a first-time user, the system quickly characterizes the user’s strength curve with a single repetition while a sensor simultaneously determines the range of motion.  In less than a minute they are ready to go!

High-Throughput

Returning users simply enter their user ID on the touch-panel and in a matter of seconds the system automatically configures with the correct starting position, range-of-motion, and force levels.  No weights to move.  No pin to insert.  No seat to adjust.   Just sit down and go!

Data Capture and Reporting Software

This optional software package automatically captures and records critical performance data such as force curves, number of repetitions performed, rest times, etc. for every workout.  Coaches, trainers, physical therapists, and athletes can use the reporting tool to assess performance and track progress over time.
