Unmatched Versatility for the Training Room, Clinic, or Gym
No other machine can match the power or versatility of the BLAST System. With the touch of a finger, it can be configured for a multitude of training, rehabilitation, and testing functions, including:
- Variable resistance/elevated-load eccentric training
- Dynamic left vs. right force control training
- Bilateral or unilateral strength profiling
- Restricted range-of-motion training for rehabilitation
- User-programmable multi-set protocols
- Motivating game-like training modes
|
- Multi-position isometric training
- Isometric left vs. right force control training
- Isometric strength testing
- User-specified arbitrary force curves
- Continuous Passive Motion (CPM)
- User-configurable pyramids

Control and Programmability
Specify training protocols with the touch of a finger. Simply use the touch-screen control panel to set range-of-motion, speed of movement, concentric and eccentric force levels, number of sets and reps – even rest intervals. Design and save custom protocols in seconds, or choose from a list of pre-programmed dynamic and isometric training modes. BLAST’s automatic user setup and time-efficient training is ideal for teams and busy clinics.

Powerful Biofeedback
The BLAST System’s extensive use of biofeedback with personalized target force bands motivates athletes and patients to work harder and increases their muscular control. Users receive real-time feedback on the amount of force they are producing in the form of a curve moving across the display. They dynamically modify their force to keep the curve within the prescribed target training band. Optional left vs. right force feedback helps them correct strength imbalances and improves balance. In addition, entertaining game-like training modes are highly motivating and maintain user interest.

Multi-Position Isometrics
Safely rehabilitate injured, osteoarthritic, and post-operative knees with multi-position isometric training. BLAST lets you specify multiple training positions and force levels to minimize irritation of the joint. It then automatically guides the patient through the exercises. Alternatively, biofeedback-based isometric games keep users focused and motivated while they train.

Automatic Performance Documentation
BLAST makes it easy to obtain accurate user strength profiles and track performance over time. It documents all training and testing sessions in Microsoft Excel-compatible data files, and automatically generates performance tracking reports that can be printed with the push of a button. Critical performance data such as force curves, power, work, number of sets, number of repetitions, rest times, etc., are automatically archived for each session.

Strength Imbalance Detection and Correction
Strength imbalances between the left and right legs are very common, especially following injury or surgery. BLAST employs multiple force sensors embedded in the footplate along with an intuitive biofeedback display to not only detect, but also correct imbalances. By visually showing the degree to which a user is favoring one side, or whether more force is being generated at the toes vs. the heel, BLAST teaches users to make force corrections in real-time during training. Motivating dynamic and isometric game-like training modes further enhance the development of balance and muscular control.

High-Throughput TrainingReturning users simply enter their unique User ID on the touch-panel and in a matter of seconds the system automatically configures with the correct starting position, range-of-motion, and force levels. It even remembers their favorite workout. No weights to move. No pin to insert. No seat to adjust. Just sit down and go!

Fast, Automatic User Setup
It is quick and easy to get started on BLAST. For a first-time user, the system quickly characterizes the user’s strength curve with a single repetition while a sensor simultaneously determines the range of motion. In less than a minute they are ready to go!
